"The attractive village of Hornby, set beside the River Lune boasts a mock-medieval castle, a fine medieval church with an unusual and impressive octagonal tower and an outstanding village shop, Hornby butchers.
A butcher's shop has operated here for more than 100 years, but the Tower's family took over some 20 years ago when it was a third the size it is now,. They used to live here but moved out and extended right through the premises with a bakery and larger shop area. Everything sold within the shop is as local as it can be, and if it's not local, it is at least british. The beef and lamb come from a family farm just down the road and the beef is matured for a minimum of three weeks. Also available are their award winning sausages, home-cured bacon, steak pies and cooked meats, all made on the premises.
The shop sell only free range eggs (which they did before it became trendy) as well as a huge range of jams, chutneys, biscuits, sauces and more. The shop is open from 8am to 5:30pm, Tuesday to Friday, and from 8am to 1pm on saturday."
